Going on the road for tournament play can be a negative at times.
For the Starkville 12-year-old All-Stars, that is something they don't have to worry about this weekend.
Although it's considered a treat to be able to go out of town and be able to eat at other places and swimming in the hotel pool, it can also be considered a hindrance to the real reason the teams are in a particular place.
Starkville coach Leonardo Thompson and his 12-year-old All-Stars will not have those distractions as the team is slated to play their Dizzy Dean North State Tournament action here in Starkville at McKee Park.
“We don’t have to worry about where we are going to eat or where we are going to stay or the money to buy gas,” Thompson said. “Instead of worrying about the kids wanting to swim in the hotel pool, they can go home and rest up for the next day of competition.”
