TVA, SED offer tips for saving on energy costs

Trying to beat the summer heat can burn through cash fast.

Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), a federally-owned corporation that supplies electricity to Starkville Electric Department (SED) and other electric utility companies throughout the state and region, reports that summer is traditionally the season where utility bills are highest throughout the Tennessee Valley. TVA spokesman Chris Stanley said this is not only because of increased electricity use for air conditioning during the summer, but also because electricity is more expensive to produce during the summer, resulting in more expensive rates.
