There is story after story about teamâs coming from the underdog position to do great things.
This weekend Starkville's 12-year-old squad became one of those.
After dropping into the loserâs bracket on day two of the Dizzy Dean North State Tournament, Starkville battled its way back to a spot in the championship game.
âMost coaches would say being in the loserâs bracket is a scary feeling,â Starkville coach Leonardo Thompson said. âFor us, it was our friend. We were able to play more games and the more we played the stronger we got. The team gelled together and that is what carried us through.â
Even with all of the fight the team possessed, the championship title eluded Starkville following a 15-5 loss to Grenada Youth on Tuesday.
