Steve Spurrier has proven to have Southeastern Conference longevity.
After coaching 12 seasons at Florida, his alma mater, Spurrier will begin his 10th year at South Carolina when the Gamecocks open against Texas A&M on August 28.
No other coach in SEC history has had a 10-year tenure or more at two difference league schools.
Spurrier said at SEC media days on Tuesday that he has "enjoyed" the ride and not one that was totally expected.
"You never know what path in life will lead," Spurrier said. "After two years at that place with the team I was with (Washington Redskins), I found out that wasn't for me.
