Coach, player represent East Webster as All-Stars

July 16, 2014

Butler

The East Webster tennis team brought home the Class 2A State team championship.
Now one of those players finds himself taking the court once more as part of the Mississippi Association of Coaches All-Star Tennis Games.
After finishing second in boys doubles their freshman and sophomore years, the paring of Samuel Butler and John Taylor Champion brought home the title their junior season, then Butler partnered with Holly Ellis his senior year to capture the mixed doubles state championship. Now it is time for Butler to face his next great adventure this afternoon as he joins his fellow All-Stars in Jackson.
“It means a lot to me,” Butler said. “I want to go out there and enjoy my time while showing everybody what I can bring to the court. God has blessed me with an awesome talent and I have used it to the best of my ability. I thank Him every day that he has allowed me to win two state championships, come to this All-Star game and also have a college life at Meridian. It is just a big blessing.”
