Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen has raised the bar in Starkville in his first five seasons.
The Bulldogs missed going to a bowl by just one game in Mullen's first year of 2009. Since then, the Bulldogs have appeared in a school-record four-straight bowl games. They should make it five when this season ends.
Moving forward, MSU fans will always expect a bowl game, but the Southeastern Conference has proven it can chew up teams and spit them out without postseason play a possibility.
The Bulldogs also play in the toughest division in the country – the SEC West, so non-conference schedules usually feature easier teams.
