Starkville Academy head coach Kayla Mosley said those in attendance at Friday's game were in for some good competition.
After action ceased, the coach’s words rang true as Starkville Academy secured a walk-off RBI from Caden Cutshall in the bottom of the fifth to claim a 7-6 victory over the visiting Lady Raiders of Oak Hill to open the season.
“I have been seeing it in practice through the spring and summer, she has just improved so much,” Mosley said. “She has a focus and intensity about her when she gets in the box and out there on shortstop. She is going to be a good player for us.”
