Glenn Schmidt does not know how they did it, but somehow Starkville Academy managed to keep a secret until Friday night's Meet the Vols.
That secret was the honoring of longtime public address announcer Ron Hartness by naming the press box at J.E. Logan Field after him.
"I have been here 11 years and he is the consistent thing in basketball and football home games," SA athletic director Schmidt said of Hartness. "He is a model family man that spent spent his life trying to build a school for his children to go to – a Christian school. Now his children are gone and he is still giving to the school."
