Noxubee County head coach Tyrone Shorter loves good defense.
Over the years, Shorter has placed a tremendous amount of emphasis on doing what it takes to be as strong as possible on the defensive side of the football.
Shorter said he will never stop thinking about defense, but when he considers what he has returning on offense this season, it makes him a little anxious.
"We're excited about our offense," Shorter said. "With several starters returning and the things we are putting in, I think we can be good. We can average between 35-40 points per game. That's how strong I think our offense can be.
"We always play good defense here and continue to play good defense, but our offense is going to be exciting. Both our offense and defense will carry each other. That's why we can really be good this year."
The Tigers, who open the season at Starkville on Friday night, are led by quarterback Timorrius Conner.
