Mississippi State's defense is loaded with returning starters and backup personnel.
The Bulldog linebackers may have the most upside of all the positions on defense. The only loss from last year's linebacker group is Deontae Skinner. MSU returns starters junior Benardrick McKinney, who led the team with 71 total tackles, and senior Matthew Wells who accounted for 50 total tackles and a lone sack.
It has been an easy training camp for defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Geoff Collins, with two starters coming back.
"Benardrick and Matt have a lot of experience," Collins said. "Zach Jackson played critical minutes for us last year (in the) fourth quarter against Arkansas, (and the) fourth quarter against Ole Miss."
