East Rankin has momentum with win

August 27, 2014

The Starkville Academy Volunteers understand that traveling to face a team that won its first game of the season will not be easy.
After knocking off Lamar 42-21 to open football season Starkville Academy will travel south to face the 1-0 East Rankin Academy on Friday.
"They are coming off a really nice win over Central Hinds," Vols coach Jeff Terrill said. "We are expecting a physical game from them. Playing at their place will be a real challenge."
Judging by last week's Patriots performance, Terrill's prediction of a tough contest might not be too far fetched.
Against Central Hinds, East Rankin enjoyed a 27-7 lead halftime. From there, the Patriots held Central Hinds scoreless while tacking on 15 more points to go on to win 42-7.
"They played well on both sides of the ball," Terrill said. "(They are) very multiple on defense with odd man, even man sets. They run to the ball well. Offensively, (they are) really still a multiple team showing you two back sets, one back sets."
Starkville Academy does not have to rely simply on film for what to expect on Friday. The pair of teams have faced each other multiple times with the Vols claiming a 28-7 victory last year.
Starkville Academy is hoping to see history repeat itself this season when the two teams face off at 7 p.m.
