DUMAS â The funeral for Mary Gayle Hill Wylie will be today at 10 at United Funeral Service with burial in Pleasant Ridge â¨Cemetery. Scott Huddson and Shannon Edwards will officiate.
Mrs. Wylie, 51, died November 6, 2010 at her sisterâs home in Cedar Bluff.
She was born October 9, 1959 in Ripley to Gilbert âDukeâ and Mary Ruth Williams Hill.
She was a member of Dumas Baptist Church.
She owned her own lawn service and was the manager over the Garden Center at Wal-Mart.
Prior to that and during her college years at Mississippi State, she worked for Pretty Pots and Montgomery Flower Shop in West Point, Boydâs Flowers in Tupelo and Mary Bells in Greenwood.
She loved the outdoors, working in her garden, fishing, camping and spending lots of time with her family.
She was a very independent woman and there was nothing she couldnât do.
She never had just one job. She was a very productive person and enjoyed doing all she did.
She is survived by her husband, Richard W. Wylie; her mother, Mary Ruth Hill of Cedar â¨Bluff; one sister Gwen Hill Collums of Cedar Bluff; two children, Henry D. Wylie of Dumas and â¨Mary Elizabeth Wylie of Cedar Bluff; two step-daughters, Amanda L. Wylie and Heather M. â¨Wylie, both of Pensacola, Fla.; three step-grandchildren, David J. Bagwell, Destinee Wylie and â¨Kaylan Wylie, all of Pensacola, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert âDukeâ Hill; one sister, Julie Ann Hill â¨Fulton and her grandparents, H.D. and Athelee Hill and L.c. and Alma Mae Williams.
Pallbearers will be Doug Richards, James Earl Power, Jay Potts, Lonnie Brooks, Mike Fredricks, Chuck Coleman, Kevin Wood and B.J. Whiteside. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Michael Jones, Dr. Tim Thompson, Dr. Brad Scott, Dr. Sam Creekmore, Dr. W.M. Billington, the nursing staff of CCU/ICU and the second floor of Baptist Memorial Hospital - Union County, Chris Thomas EMT, New Albany Wal-Mart Garden Center management and associates, Andy Williams at Rose Drug Store, and Jennifer, Yoyo and Bonnie with Gentiva Hospice.
Visitation was Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
