Nikishia Miller said she would feed as many as would come.
And many did visit Sista to Sista Cateringâs Veteranâs Day event that brought crowds of people to a free meal at the National Guard Armory. Veterans, the needy and others were invited to take part in a free meal to honor local veterans. Over 200 people attended the first-time event.
âIt was wonderful to see the people come into the National Guard Armory to fellowship with one another and bread bread together,â Miller said.
Many visitors sat at neatly arranged tables around the Drill Hall, with thanks to Sgt. First Class Mike Hemphill. Other visitors took their meal âto go.â
Food and âeverything down to the napkins and forksâ were donated by Coca-Cola, Walmart, Piggly Wiggly, The Salvation Army, Faye Jackson and Mikishia Miller of Sista to Sista Catering.
Miller said many others donated their time and services to make sure that those who were hungry could eat.
The food was a good âDown-home Southernâ meal, including baked chicken dressing, cranberry sauce, macaroni and cheese, string beans, whole corn, peach cobbler, pound cake and plenty of iced tea.
Miller made sure everything was homemade and blessed by Rev. Larnzy Carpenter of First Baptist Church of Longview. Mrs. Carpenter also attended the event.
âWhen God tells you to do something, you just have to step out on faith and be obedient,â Miller said.
