A familiar face is the new leader for the Starkville Electric Department.
The Starkville Board of Aldermen on Tuesday unanimously hired Terry Kemp, retired customer service manager for the Tennessee Valley Authority, as the new general manager of the Electric Department.
Kemp succeeds long-time electric manager Edd Hattaway, who retired in October after 38 years of service to the city.
He has worked for TVA since 1974, holding positions such as engineer, customer service center manager and manager of residential conservation programs and of commercial and industrial services.
Kemp has also been involved in the community at numerous levels, including serving as chairman of the Greater Starkville Development Partnership board of directors.
Kemp’s son, Edward Kemp, works as city engineer and is certified in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) sustainability.
