Child identification program set Saturday at local Walmart store

A program set for Saturday at Walmart will equip parents and other caregivers with key information in case they are separated from their children or other loved ones.
The Starkville Police Department and area merchants will provide a free child identification program from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The service includes digital imaging, which will provide details on hair and eye color, scars, birthmarks, dental and optical information – anything which could help in the identification process.
Plus, a simple swab inside the mouth will provide a DNA sample.
The program is for children, senior citizens, vulnerable adults, Alzheimer patients, those with mental challenges or people who are prone to wander off who might have difficulty in providing information on their identity and residence.
The Child ID software form includes all 10 fingerprints and is saved as a PDF file.
The parent gets two printed identification cards, the child ID form and a CD with all information on it.
Plus, the parent is the only person who retains the information, organizers said.
For additional information about the program, call (662) 841-7700 or (662) 213-9132.
