Christmas decor represents special memories

December 5, 2010

“Amy is very sentimental and so much of her Christmas decor holds special meaning,” said Pat Fulgham with Designer’s Gallery.
Fulgham was upstairs at the home of Amy Tuck Sunday as one of the tour guides for the event. She was also one of the decorators who helped Tuck prepare for the tour.
“Each of the trees in the different romms has a story,” Fulgham said.
The tree in her bedroom is more whimsical and features angels from her mother’s Christmas collection. The kitchen featured a grapevine tree and the tree in the great room had a vast collection of ornaments. One of the trees upstairs was the Designer’s Gallery tree from this year’s Festival of Trees.
Tuck said some of her favorite Christmas decorations are her ornaments. She showed off her Mississippi State University ornaments, Mississippi pottery ornaments, some of the 9-11 commemorative ornaments, White House collectible ornaments and a Santa painted inside of a seashell that washed ashore after Hurricane Katrina. She said she loved her nativity collections, because “that is the real reason for the season.” And she was especially proud of her momma’s angels.
Tuck’s home was one of four homes in the Sherwood Forest community on display as part of the annual Christmas Tour of Homes, sponsored by the Starkville Civic League.
“I am so proud to be part of this,” Tuck said. “The Starkville Civic League does so much to give back to the community.”
Other homes on this year’s tour included the homes of Carey and Bonnie Hardin at 501 Canterbury Road; Robert and Vicki Katz at 112 Tuxford Road; and Tom and Lynda McReynolds at 3 Courtland Street.
Proceeds from the annual Christmas Tour of Homes goes to fund a wide variety of community projects sponsored by the Starkville Civic League.
