A Mississippi State University student was reportedly undergoing major surgery after suffering a serious injury following a fall at a party.
The male student, whose name is not being made public pending confirmation from medical personnel, was initially transported to OCH Regional Medical Center, but was soon transferred to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
He reportedly underwent surgery for unspecified injuries late Friday afternoon. The injuries were reported to be very serious, officials said.
The student was a guest at a party at an apartment on Planter’s Row when he fell down a flight of stairs and was injured shortly before 3 a.m. Friday.
OCH paramedics were called to the apartment, and Starkville firefighters quickly responded to assist them in stabilizing the student for transport by ambulance to the hospital, according to Fire Department reports.
Police Department detectives were also called to the apartment, but quickly ruled the fall as accidental and said later Friday that no foul play was involved.
