Starkville Academy drops pair at Jackson Academy

JACKSON – The Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers ran into a stiff defense from Jackson Academy and lost a 47-32 decision on the road Tuesday.
"It was the best defense we have played against this year," Starkville Academy girls basketball coach Glenn Schmidt said. "It was intense."
The Lady Vols, who dropped to 13-12 overall and 4-6 in the North-Division I Conference, shot only 28 percent and were out-rebounded 30-16.
Sallie Kate Richardson led SA with 11 points and she pulled down four rebounds, while Anna Lea Little and April Burney added eight points each.
Jackson Academy was led in the scoring department by Brett Ball with 17 points.

JACKSON – The Vols competed with their host for two quarters, but were out-scored 18-5 in the third quarter to fall deeper in the hole.
Starkville Academy slipped behind 8-2 and Jackson Academy increased the margin to 14-5 by halftime. JA held a 32-10 advantage after three quarters.
Patrick Jones and Austin Kinard led the Vols (6-16, 1-9) with four points.
The next action for the Starkville Academy teams will be Friday at home against Madison-Ridgeland Academy. It also hosts Oak Hill Academy on Saturday.
