Marshall to speak at Books and Authors

The Books and Authors program for February will feature Dr. Anne Marshall, assistant professor of history at Mississippi State University.
She will talk about her book, “Creating a Confederate Kentucky: The Lost Cause and Civil War Memory in a Border State.” Her areas of interest as a researcher include the Nineteenth Century in the South, the Civil War in historical memory, and Women in the 19th and 20th Century.
Dr. Marshall is a native of Danville, Ky., and received her bachelor of arts degree from Centre College of Kentucky in Lexington, and her master’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of Georgia.
She lives in Starkville with her husband, Jim Giesen, also an MSU assistant history professor, and their two children.
The program will begin at noon, Feb. 16, at the Starkville Public Library. The Books and Authors Program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served by the Friends of the Library.
