Starkville schools monitoring the weather

February 9, 2011

The Starkville School District is monitoring weather conditions closely. All after- school events have been cancelled for Wednesday. Plans have been made to include both a full day closing or to operate a delayed schedule Thursday, February 10 depending on road conditions Thursday morning. We urge parents to make arrangements for childcare in either situation. We have been informed that weather conditions could quickly change and that the call cannot be safely made until early Thursday morning.
In case of a delayed schedule, faculty members and Central Office staff should arrive by 9 a.m. School will begin at 10 a.m. Students should arrive no earlier than 9:45 a.m. Buses will run a delayed schedule. If a bus has not arrived by 10:30 a.m., that bus will not be picking up students on that route. If there is a delayed schedule, parents and employees should use their best judgment for personal safety based on their travel route in coming to school. In the event of a delayed schedule, Emerson Family Center will maintain regular operational hours.
Local media, SSD website, and Alert Now messages will inform parents by 5:30 a.m. Thursday morning as to the closing or delayed schedule decision. As always, the safety of our staff and students is our primary concern.
