FRENCH CAMP – The East Oktibbeha boys basketball team has put together an impressive late season run.
The Titans' surge continued Friday with a 61-52 win over Nanih Waiya to win the Class A, Region 5 Tournament hosted by French Camp.
Casey Neal poured in 24 points and hauled in six rebounds to pace East Oktibbeha, who improved to 9-18 overall.
Davonte Lucious scored 17 points and gathered eight rebounds for the Titans.
Neal and Lucious were the key components that helped East Oktibbeha survive what was a back-and-forth affair.
Nanih Waiya led 10-8 after the first quarter, but the Titans battled back for a 26-21 lead by halftime.
In the second half, Nanih Waiya pulled back ahead, 41-36 entering the fourth quarter, but East Oktibbeha outscored the Warriors 25-11 in the final period to secure the victory.
With the win, East Oktibbeha earned the right to host its Class A playoff game on Tuesday against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.
Both the Titans and Lady Titans will honor their senior players prior to Tuesday night's contest.

FRENCH CAMP – After going through Class A, Region 5 play undefeated in the regular season, the East Oktibbeha Lady Titans fell just short of perfection in their district tournament.
East Oktibbeha's Quanisha Doss scored 14 points, but it wasn't enough as Weir upended the Lady Titans 42-36 in French Camp to claim the division tourney crown.
"(Weir) came to play and we didn't," said East Oktibbeha head coach Randy Brooks.
With the loss, East Oktibbeha enters the postseason as the region's No. 2 seed, but will still host a playoff game against a to-be-determined opponent on Monday in Crawford.
On Friday, the Lady Titans scored just 10 total points in the first half, but still found themselves in position for a win late.
Weir led 18-10 at the half before East Oktibbeha closed its deficit to just one point, 31-30, entering the fourth quarter.
However, the Lady Lions outscored the Lady Titans 11-6 in the final period to earn the win.
Aside from Doss, no other East Oktibbeha player scored in double figures, though Kelcie Lanier just missed a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.
Shondra Nichols also added eight points and six rebounds for the Lady Titans.
Lydia Stevenson scored four points and hauled in 14 rebounds for East Oktibbeha, who fell to 18-9 overall.
