Readers are invited to a special artistsâ€™ reception from 2 to 4 p.m. today for the â€śHatâ€™s Off to Caroleâ€ť exhibit currently on display at the Starkville Daily News office.
â€śHatâ€™s Off to Caroleâ€ť gives readers an opportunity to view some of the paintings they have been reading about in the Lifestyles section each Sunday.
Thirty-seven paintings by Carole McReynolds Davis are featured in a special display in the SDN office beginning Monday. The exhibit titled â€śHats off to Caroleâ€ť will run through March 7.
Some of Davisâ€™ favorites in this collection are â€śThe Lady In Pink,â€ť â€śNed Gandy,â€ť â€śYou Cling To Every Thread That Clings To Me...Lawrence Johnson,â€ť â€śJohn Thomas McReynolds, Last Dairyman In Oktibbeha County,â€ť â€śDaffodil Hill,â€ť and â€śRun Mallory Ann, Run!â€ť
For those who know Davis, her â€ślove affairâ€ť with hats is legendary throughout Starkville, thus the exhibit title, â€śHats off to Carole!â€ť
The column began with â€śThe Purple Irisâ€ť in 2010, and since then, Davis has written weekly columns for the Starkville Daily News. This exhibit features the original paintings from some of the columns written throughout the year.
The exhibit will be on display during regular working hours. The Starkville Daily News office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
