Garden-themed art exhibit to open March 1

February 27, 2011

For the Daily News

Spring is here, the flowers are starting to bloom, and artists have been painting and photographing the gardens in all their glory!
Once again the Starkville Area Arts Council through the Art in Public Places committee will be hosting a show of these garden images.
The event is being held to get the community inspired in anticipation of the Everything Garden Expo, which will be held next weekend, March 5-6, at the Mississippi Horse Park.
The garden-themed exhibit will be up March 1 through April 29 in the Welcome Center of the Greater Starkville Development Partnership.
To introduce this show, there will be a reception of wine and cheese on March 4 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Organizers said the reception will be a great time to meet the participating artists and admire their work.
Many of the familiar names exhibiting are Frances Thompson, Betty Jane Chatham, Briar Jones, and Kathryn Davis plus several new artists.
