For the Daily News

On Feb. 6, Mary E. Brown celebrated her 100th birthday.
She was born in Grenada and moved to Starkville in 1917 where she still lives today.  During the late 1920’s she married William Brown together they had one child with three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to being a wife and mother she worked outside the home as a housekeeper, and also for Dr. Long and Dr. Howell.
Mary, not being formally educated, made it a point to see her children go to college so they could have a better life.  Mary Brown has been sustained through her life by a strong faith in God which is demonstrated by her constant testimony.  As well as sharing the goodness of the Word with everyone she meets.
Mary is a member of Second Baptist Church of Starkville, where she has been a member since 1921.
