A Starkville man turned himself in to police Monday evening after being wanted on a stolen gun possession charge, Starkville police said.
Officers interviewed Nicholas Monroe, 18, 214 E. Pilcher St. and served the warrant on him, police said in a Tuesday statement. Monroe is being held in the Clay County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
Authorities issued warrants on the matter after officers allegedly found Monroe in possession of a 9-mm Beretta handgun when they stopped a vehicle he was riding in during a Feb. 23 traffic stop in the vicinity of 305 Everglade Ave.
Officers have said they determined the next day the weapon was stolen in the burglary of a residence.
