East Webster rallies to defeat Hatley

HATLEY – Down 7-2 after five innings, East Webster scored six runs over the course of the sixth and seventh innings to come from behind and beat Hatley 8-7 on the road Friday night.
The Wolverines (6-2, 2-1 in Class 2A, Region 2) scored four sixth inning runs and two in the seventh to escape with the win.
In the sixth, East Webster began its rally with a Codie Silver single and a Ty Hendrix double.
Silver scored on a fielder's choice by Hayden Hendrix to cut the Wolverines' deficit to 7-3 just ahead of a single by Dillon Henley.
With two men on, Austin Halford hit a three-run homer to cut the hole to one run.
In the seventh, the East Webster run continued as Silver was hit by a pitch just ahead of what turned out to be a game-winning two-run homer by Hayden Hendrix.
Thrilled with his team's comeback, East Webster head coach Wes Johnson gave praise to his squad, particularly Halford, who Johnson said had a "career game".
"He had two doubles, a home run and two spectacular catches in the outfield," said Johnson.
Ty Hendrix took the pitching win for East Webster, throwing the final 1 2/3 innings in relief of Silver.
