Local Girl Scouts raise money for their new project

April 2, 2011

Sarah Johnson and Tori Mullins are Cadets with Girl Scouts Troop 320, sponsored by First United Methodist Church in Starkville.
The girls are working on their Silver Award project which requires 50 service hours each and need help from the community to raise money for the creation of a new space for needy animals.
They knew they wanted to do something for the Oktibbeha County Humane Society which would benefit the community.
The Humane Society needs a receiving facility to house new animals. The new animals must be quarantined for a period of time before releasing into their general population to make sure there are no diseases transferred from animal to animal.
The Humane Society has a storage building in which the girls are going to convert into the much needed receiving facility. The building is a sound structure and has insulation, but in inside of the building needs finishing.
The girls need to raise money to purchase the supplies for the walls in the building. To make a donation to the girl’s project for purchasing supplies, contact their leader Ann Johnson at or send a donation to the Oktibbeha County Humane Society at 510 Industrial Park Road, Starkville, MS 39759. Please mark your donation “GS Project”.
The girl’s project must be completed by May 30.
