Benny Perkins announces his candidacy for the position of Oktibbeha County’s District 3 Supervisor for the Aug. 2 primary.
Perkins is married to the former Gwen Harpole Bell.
“What I will do I will use my own truck to check roads and go to meetings. I will use my own cell phone for calls. I will use my own gas card for county business. I will use the raise the prior board gave themselves to take care of my county business expense. I will vote against raising taxes. I will bring to a vote to sell county trucks used by supervisors. I will bring to a vote to get rid of county paid cell phone and county paid gas cards for supervisors. I will be a full-time supervisor. I will listen to problems. I will attend all meetings.”
“The raises the prior board gave themselves are enough to cover the board’s gas and phone expense. There is no need for an accounting to the county of these expenses since the raise is built in the salary already...the only accounting will be to the IRS at the end of the year when tax returns are filed. These ideas will put money back into the county for other much needed projects.”
