The Starkville Academy 2011 football schedule has a different look.
Along with traditional rivals like Winston Academy and Heritage Academy, the Volunteers see opponents for the first time or for the first time in a while.
"It's different, but is still going to be a very challenging schedule," Starkville Academy football coach Jeff Terrill said. "At the same time, there are new faces on it."
The Vols open with St. Andrews at home on August 19, then travel to Heritage on August 26. After hosting Magnolia Heights School on Sept. 2, SA makes the trip to Leake Academy on Sept. 9.
"We have reconnected with Leake Academy that we used to play years ago," Terrill said.
The Vols start division action on the road against Hillcrest Christian on Sept. 16, then at Jackson Prep on Sept. 23 before hosting Copiah Academy on Sept. 30.
Starkville Academy plays Parklane Academy for homecoming on Oct. 7, travels to Winston on Oct. 14, welcomes in East Rankin Academy on Oct. 21 and concludes the regular season at Presbyterian Christian on Oct. 28.
As members of Class AAA, District 2, Division II, the Vols will compete in the South with Hillcrest, Copiah and East Rankin for a playoff spot.
