Mississippi State Universityâs Phi Mu ladies raised more than $18,000 to help chronically ill childrenâs dreams come true during the sororityâs first ever âMiracle Week.â
The Kappa Alpha Chapter of Phi Mu held its first ever week-long philanthropy fund-raising event April 3â7 to raise money for Childrenâs Miracle Network Hospitals.
In 1986, Phi Mu adopted Childrenâs Miracle Network Hospitals its national philanthropy organization.
The money raised by MSUâs Phi Mu ladies will go to a CMN hospital, Le Bonheur Childrenâs Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn.
The ladies organized a series of competitions between the sororities and fraternities on campus.
Organizations won points for their teams by participating in events such as a wiffleball tournament, banner decorating, a cutest baby photo contest and t-shirt sales. The finale of the week was at Phi Muâs second annual BBQ & Blues event. Guests were entertained by the Randy Stephens band and enjoyed food from a local favorite, Pettyâs BBQ.
Phi Mu congratulates Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Alpha Tau Omega for tying for first place for the fraternities, and to the Chi Omega sorority for placing first. Phi Mu will make a donations to St. Judeâs Hospital, The Palmer Home and the Make-A-Wish Foundation on behalf of the winning fraternities and sorority.
