SPD busy with alcohol-related weekend arrests

The Starkville Police Department dealt with large crowds over the weekend at the city’s bars and restaurants, but did not have any major crowd control issues.
Yet alcohol violations were frequent. The majority of arrests stemmed from alcohol-related charges, with seven people arrested for driving under the influenceand 10 charged with being in possession of alcohol as a minor.
“For a weekend, those numbers were higher, but they’re mainly driven by the fact that we have positions that focus mainly on alcohol control,” Lieutenant Mark Ballard said.
Arrests were down from last weekend, however, when 15 people were charged as minors in possession of alcohol and 22 people were charged with driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI).
u Ronnie Darrell Cooper, 43, of 2302 Polly Bell Rd., Pheba, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and not wearing a seat belt.
u Andrew Shelby, 20, of 127 Flacon Ridge Dr., Raymond, was charged with driving under the influence, possession of beer or wine by a minor and driving upon one-way roadways and around rotary traffic islands.
u James Andrew Gamberi, 25, of 116 N. Montgomery St., Starkville, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, running a red light or stop sign and improper equipment except 63-7-59 (illegal tint or other windshield covering).
u Courtney Oneal Hoskiins, 24, of 655 Cr. Apartment 833, Guntown, was charged with possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle.
u Kayleigh Danielle Johnson, 19, of 11469 Martin Moore Rd., Collinsville, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper equipment except 63-7-59.
u Spencer Everett Yates, 22, of 108 Redbud Dr., Brandon, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and no insurance/failure to have motor vehicle insurance card in vehicle.
u Demario Martchez Sharkey, 23, of 2153 Attala Rd. Apartment 1003, Kosciusko, was charged with possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle.
u Benjamin Cortez Kirkman, 23, of 2310 Meadowview Dr., Tupelo, was charged with profanity or drunkenness in a public place and disorderly conduct; failure to comply with commands of law enforcement officers.
u Brett Alan Hayes, 20, of 4219 Halls Ferry Rd., Vicksburg, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and possession of beer or wine by a minor
u Martin Thomas Neely, 21, of 153 Nappa Valley Circle, Madison, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and not wearing a seat belt.
u Corinne Cox, 18, of 110 Rosedale Dr., Madison, was charged with possession of alcoholic beverages by a minor.
u John Morgan Hughes, 20, of 209 Lummus Dr. C, Starkville, was charged with possession of alcoholic beverages by a minor.
u Elizabeth Bounds, 18, of 21 Village Dr., Madison, was charged with possession of alcoholic beverages by a minor.
u Lauren E. Pittman, 19, of 157 Caroline Point Blvd., Madison, was charged with possession of beer or wine by a minor, alcoholic beverages.
u Lataskka Jonell Wellmaker, 23, of 28 B Peoples St., Starkville, was charged with speeding.
u Alisha Nikita Cork, 31, of 6030 Reform-Sturgis Rd., Ackerman, was charged with contributing to the neglect or delinquency of a child; felonious abuse and/or battery of a child.
u Christa Foster, 20, of 1300 Old Highway 12, Apartment 5120, Starkville, was charged with possession of alcoholic beverages by a minor.
u Jermaine Ahmad Milton, 21, of 5656 Longview Rd., Belden, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct; failure to comply with commands of law enforcement officers and resisting or obstructing arrest.
u Evan Scott Howell, 20, of 100 Starr Ave, Apartment 33, Starkville, was charged with possession of beer or wine by a minor, alcoholic beverages.
u Anderson Callahan Sawyer, 20, of 2477 Church St., Byhalia, was charged with possession of beer or wine by a minor, alcoholic beverages.
u Patrick Chase McMullan, 19, of 715 Forest Point Dr., Brandon, was charged with possession of beer or wine by a minor, alcoholic beverages.
u Tineka Lawanda Gould, 30, of 2705 5th St. N., Columbus, was arrested on charges of driving while license or driving while privilege cancelled, suspended or revoked, speeding, and no insurance/failure to have a motor vehicle insurance card in vehicle.
