MDWFP recruits officers

April 23, 2011

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) is actively recruiting wildlife conservation officers to fill 20 or more openings statewide.
Applicants must be at least 21 years old and have completed 64 college hours from an accredited community college or university, or have 5 years of enforcement experience as a certified law enforcement officer to qualify.
Lieutenant Colonel Tim Brinkley, Assistant Chief of the Enforcement Bureau explained that some targeted recruitment is ongoing at community colleges and universities across the state to fill openings in rural areas that may not be attractive to some applicants. However, qualified applicants may be stationed in any of the counties where positions are vacant.
MDWFP is an equal opportunity employer and we encourage all interested applicants to apply without regard to race, gender, religion or national origin says Brinkley. Brinkley adds that “there are many excellent potential candidates in the state. Our challenge is to determine how to facilitate placement in counties across the state.”
Applicants selected for these positions will be enrolled for basic training at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy in Pearl, Mississippi for 10 weeks after which they will receive up to 12 weeks of additional training in preparation for enforcing game and fish laws.
Interested applicants should apply online as soon as possible at For more information call (601) 432-2174 or contact MDWFP at:
