Saturday’s Taste of Starkville event brought out some of the best-tasting food from some of the most talented chefs in Starkville.
Organizers said the event is always one of the most popular features of the annual Cotton District Arts Festival.
This year, the top three winners are teams from Harvey’s Restaurant, The Veranda, and Central Station Grill.
Tasha Hill, coordinator for the Taste of Starkville event, said Harvey’s kabob’s were the judges’ favorite. She said The Veranda had some of the best tasting ribs. And Central Station Grill was a crowd favorite for their Grilled Hamburger Sliders and fresh corn dogs.
Other winners included:
• Bulldog Deli for Best Food Presentation, with Hobie Hobart entertaining the judges with a special rap song about their food.
• Morris’ Bar-BQ for the Best Pulled Pork.
• Zaxby’s for Most Popular Milkshakes.
• Dave’s Dark Horse Tavern for Best Gyros.
• BOPS for Most Popular Custard.
• Sweet Pepper’s Deli for Outstanding Sweet Tea.
• MSU Dining Services/Marketplace at Perry for Most Original Food.
• Zorba’s Greek Tavern had best brats.
Judges in this year’s competition were Chuck Bailey from AbilityWorks, Starkville’s Miss Hospitality Mary Lowry Nemeth, Heather Britt from ERA, Susan McReynolds from BankFirst, Brian Hawkins, Lee Beck of Metrocast, Dr. Paul Ruff of Starkville Pediatric Clinic, Marc McGee of MSU Research and Technology Corporation, and David Lindley of Camgin.
