It was an opportunity Rob Morgan couldn't refuse.
Once being offered the chance to become an offensive coordinator again and to be able to work along side his brother Josh and father Robert at Warren Central High School in Vicksburg, Morgan jumped at the chance.
Morgan's move from an assistant coach at Starkville High School to coordinator at Warren Central was recently approved by the school board in Warren County.
"It gives me an opportunity to be a coordinator again which is something I missed last year as being able to enjoy that," Morgan said. "It gives me an opportunity to work with my brother and my dad and to go back to a place that was near and dear to me for a long time."
Josh is the head coach of the Vikings, while Robert, who was once the head coach, is now a volunteer assistant.
Morgan had also grown to love Starkville during his time as a quarterback for the Mississippi State Bulldogs from 1996-99 and as assistant coach with the Yellowjackets.
He sees the move back home as a way to pursue an ultimate goal.
"It was a tough decision all the way around," Morgan said. "At the end of the day, I felt like it was a move I needed to make in terms of being a coordinator again and get to where I want to be as a head coach. That's what led me in this direction."
Starkville head coach Jamie Mitchell hated to see Morgan go, but says the program will move forward.
"Rob is an outstanding football coach, but he's an even better friend," Mitchell said. "We've grown extremely close in a year's time. We hate that he's leaving and it was a tough decision on his part. You hate to lose good people out of the program because the stability of a staff is very important and when you lose one like that, it hurts.
"We're going to be in the market to hire the best coach out there and we'll see what we can find."
