CLINTON â€” Margaret Lemons Wooten, 93, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital â€” Golden Triangle in Columbus.
Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home in Clinton, Mississippi on Wednesday, May 25, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with graveside services following at 11 a.m. in Lakewood Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Rev. Ken Anderson pastor of Parkway Baptist Church in Clinton.
Mrs. Wooten was born on November 25, 1917, in Ecru, and graduated from Pontotoc County High School. She attended MSCW before moving to Jackson where she met and married Johnnie Lee Wooten. They were married 49-1/2 years before his death in 1990. They were the loving parents of two daughters, Betsy and Susan.
Margaret was retired from Farnham Business Machines in Jackson where she was an office manager and bookkeeper. She had many lifelong friends, having taught Sunday School for numerous years and serving in various other areas in the church.
Ten years ago she moved to Columbus, and resided at Trinity Retirement Community. She became a member of Fairview Baptist Church where she loved worshipping.
Margaret was a devoted Christian mother to her two girls always taking part in school activities and supporting them in their church activities. In addition, she loved to sew for them when they were growing-up.
Later she enjoyed creating beautiful needlework, growing pretty flowers in her yard, reading and playing bridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Vera Lemons; her husband, Johnnie Wooten; and son-in-law, Milton Wells.
She is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law, Betsy and Sam Godbold of Starkville, and Susan Wells of Oxford.
