Oktibbeha County School District held its first annual Academic Tournament for the elementary schools on April 16.
Students from West Oktibbeha County Elementary School traveled to East Oktibbeha County Elementary to compete in the Language Arts section of the competition.
Each school selected the top ten students per grade level. The students were divided into two teams of five members.
Each school had two teams for third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grades. The teams answered multiple choice MCT2 questions provided by the Mississippi Department of Education. Students earned points for their teams by answering the questions correctly.
Medallions were given to all first place teams. West Oktibbeha County Elementary received the most points overall and won the academic trophy. Students from both schools enjoyed the friendly competition and pizza after the competition. Academic Tournament Coordinators were Mrs. Brook Dycus of East Oktibbeha Elementary and Mrs. Melanie Cade of West Oktibbeha Co. Elementary.
