William Thurston “Tut” McKell, passed away on June 19, 2011 at his residence in Nashville, Tenn. He was born November 2, 1961.Â
 He graduated from Mississippi State University and bled maroon and white. He worked as a graduate assistant trainer for the Mississippi State University football team. He was probably best known as a lifeguard/swimming instructor at Moncrief Park in Starkville. He was also self-employed as a personal trainer in the country music industry in Nashville, Tenn. He and his dad shared a love and talent for the guitar.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill McKell and Faye Bailey McKell.
 He is survived by his daughter, Jordan Bailey McKell of Nashville, Tenn.; sister, Daphne McKell of Nashville, Tenn.; uncles, Jim McKell of Starkville and Frank Golden; aunts, Betty Smith of Alaska, Jan Smith (Mike), Sybil Huffman, Judy Shurden all of Starkville. He also leaves many beloved friends.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, June 23 from 5-7 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, with the memorial service immediately following in the funeral home chapel.
