Raymond Edwin Love

WEST POINT — Raymond Edwin Love, 66, passed away, Sunday, July 10, 2011 Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT, in Columbus.
He was born January 22, 1945 in Oktibbeha County Mississippi to the late Lucille Reed Love and Samuel Shannon Love. Raymond Edwin Love married Sylvia West Love on April 13, 1991, at the Osburn Presbyterian Church.
He was known as an expert in production in the oil and gas business; Raymond's career spanned a 40 year period.
After college he worked extensively with the Mississippi Oil and Gas Board. Through the years he worked for Thompson-Monteith Torch Energy, Hillcorp Energy and Constellation Energy Group. After retirement he worked as a consultant in the oil and gas industry for companies across the United States. He had served in the Mississippi Army National Guard.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Starkville. He was very active in local, state and national politics. He was a Member of Starkville Masonic Lodge, and Hamasa Shrine Temple of Meridian. He had served on the board of Directors of Oktibbeha County Hospital and the Board of Directors of American Petroleum Institute. He had served as President of the Board of Directors Black Warrior American Petroleum Institute. He enjoyed the family farm and cattle farming after retirement and spending time with family and friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 11 a.m. from First Presbyterian Church in Starkville with the Reverend Olin McBride officiating, assisted by the Reverend Steve Davis. The body will lie at the church from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Oddfellows Rest Starkville. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include Wife Sylvia West Love; one son, Raymond Edwin "Bud" Love (Melanie) all of Starkville; one daughter, Lynne Pace Mize (Thomas) of Tupelo; three grandchildren; Raymond Edwin "Trace" Love, III, Owen Pace Mize, and William Thomas Mize, III; two sisters, Linda Love Necaise (Doug) of Kiln, and Janet Love Bardwell (Gary) of Starkville; three brothers, Samuel Shannon "Sam" Love, Jr. and Alec Love both of Starkville, William Ward "Bill" Love (Trina) of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. He was preceded in death by his son Lewis Nathaniel "Tinker" Love.
Pallbearers will be Owen Pace Mize, William Thomas Mize, III, Jim Love, Jason Love, Tim Roberson, Tom Forsyth, Kevin Hamilton, and Lee Graham.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jason Dunn, Dr. Cameron Huxford, Dolph Bryan, Phillip Delovoris, Corey Taylor, Kenny Runnels, Ronnie Stewart, and Harvey Powell.

Visitation will be Tuesday, 5-8 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point
