In announcing her candidacy for Oktibbeha County Tax Assessor/Collector, Deborah “Debbie” Carrithers made the following statement:
“I would like to formally announce my candidacy for the position of Oktibbeha County Tax Assessor/Collector. I recently began my 14th year serving the tax payers of Oktibbeha County as deputy clerk in the Tax Assessors/Collector’s Office. These many years of public service have enabled me to gain the knowledge and experience needed to manage the responsibilities and duties of this office. My daily work involvement requires me to stay focused and up to date with all existing and newly passed tax code laws. This will allow me, as your new Tax Assessor/Collector, to serve you, the customer, more efficiently.
“I was born and raised in Choctaw County, Mississippi. In 1976 I moved to Oktibbeha County and made Starkville my home. I have been married to my husband George Carrithers for 39 years. George made law enforcement his career and is currently Chief Deputy with the Oktibbeha County Sheriffs Office. We have three children, Michael (wife Donice, sons Joey and Trace) Batina Brown (husband Justine, son Kaleb) and Ryan.
