CEDAR BLUFF — Shelby Jean Burges, 73, passed away, Saturday, July 23, 2011, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Shelby Jean Burges was born March 15, 1938, in Pine Bluff, Miss., to the late Maudie Marie Vaughn and Raymond Forrester She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Shelby Jean Burges was married to Hubert Eugene Burges, who preceded her on Jan. 31, 1986.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 25, 5-8 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 26, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Brother J.R. Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery Montpelier. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, James William Thompson (Beverly) of Cedar Bluff and Thomas Daniel Thompson (Wanda)of Citronelle, Ala.; a step-son, Rusty Burges (Joey) of Houston; a step-daughter, Myra Turner (Rayford) of Columbus, Texas; six grandchildren, Natalie Carol Thompson, Tyler Taylor, Adam Burges, John Burges, Jorden Burges and Greg Turner; three great grandchildren, Josh Thompson, Mike Thompson and David Nicholson, Jr.; her children's father, John Quitman Thompson of Citronelle, Ala.; one sister, Una Pearl Scoggins of Starkville; one brother, George Linroy Forrester of Prairie. Son, Johnny Carroll Thompson, on Aug. 31, 1984, her twin brother, Eugene Forrester, and a special friend, Fred Turner, preceded her in death.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Forrester, T. J. Bell, Joesph Bell, Jonathan Shurden, John Douglas and William Adam Burges.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Lee Douglas, Gary Scoggins, Michael McFalls and Randal Forrester
