Showdowns in the November general election will begin to take shape after residents cast their ballots during Tuesday’s primaries.
Numerous statewide and local positions are up for election this year, from state governor to local county district representatives. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Starkville voting locations include:
Oktibbeha County Circuit Court Complex;
Humphrey Coliseum;
Gillespie Street Center;
Boardtown Village;
The fire department located at 102 W Garrard Road;
Starkville Sportsplex;
National Guard Armory.
County voting locations include:
Bell Schoolhouse Fire Station;
Adaton Fire Station;
Craig Springs Fire Station;
Maben Fire Department;
Longview Fire Station;
Oktoc Fire Station;
16 Section Fire Station;
Adaton Baptist Church;
Sturgis Fire Station;
Longview Fire Station;
Sessums Fire Station;
East Oktibbeha Fire Station;
Self Creek/Double Springs Fire Station at Turner Road.

Myles Carpenter, chair of the Oktibbeha County Election Commission, said voters who cast their ballots at Humphrey Coliseum and in Maben need to be aware of changes to the polling locations.
Since the Maben City Hall is being rebuilt, voters will cast their ballots at the Maben Fire Department, located near City Hall. Signs will direct voters to the appropriate location.
Starkville voters in the east and northeast precincts will vote in the lobby which connects Humphrey Coliseum to the new practice facility.
Voters from the east precinct should use the coliseum’s west entrance doors, while west precinct voters should enter through the east doors. Signs will be posted for both precincts at the location.
Carpenter also said voters should study sample ballots so they know which ticket they wish to vote on for election day. Each voter must choose to vote on either the Democratic or Republican ticket.
Should there be a runoff election on Aug. 23, voters must vote the same ticket they use Tuesday.
