Ernestine Mills Daniel, 90, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2011 at Oktibbeha County Medical Center in Starkville after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be Monday, Aug. 22 at 10 a.m. at Welch's Funeral Home in Starkville with visitation prior to the service at 9 a.m. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian at 2:30 p.m.
Mrs. Daniel was a native of Meridian where she attended Meridian High School and Meridian Community College. She was a resident of Jackson from 1957 until she moved to Starkville in 2008. She was a resident at Carrington Nursing Center until her death.
She was a long-time member of Alta Woods Baptist Church where she taught a children's Sunday School class for many years. In her later years in the Jackson area she was a member of First Baptist, Raymond while living at Riggs Manor in Raymond. She was retired from the Registrars' Office at Mississippi College.
She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Dalton Daniel who died in 1966. She is survived by two sons: Bob (and Janet) of Atlanta, Ga. and Tom (and Lisa) of Starkville. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Meg (and Andrew Nelson) of Washington, D.C., Alex (and Emily) Daniel of Birmingham, Ala., Emily (and Monty Cagwin) of Boston, Mass., Bryan (and Ellen) Daniel of Cincinnati, Ohio, Anthony Daniel of New York, N.Y., and Matthew Daniel of Los Angeles, Calif.
Memorials may be given to Student Ministries Missions at Adaton Baptist Church, 1975 Highway 182 West, Starkville, MS 39759. The family would also like to thank Riggs Manor and Carrington Nursing Center for their wonderful care over the past 10 years.
