Eupora helping breast cancer patients with Pink Game today

When Eupora plays host to Winona today in slowpitch softball action, the contest will be about much more than just the play on the field.
As part of the Lady Eagles' first-ever Pink Game, all of the funds raised for admission and concessions at the 5 p.m. matchup will go towards helping breast cancer patients from Webster County.
"We want as many people to come as possible," said Eupora head coach Trae Embry. "It's something that we've been wanting to do. (Winona head coach Percy Legg) and myself got together this summer trying to figure out a way to do it and it all kind of snowballed. As we went, everybody wanted to help."
Both teams will wear pink jerseys during the game, which will begin with a special ceremonial first pitch from Selena Knight, who is currently dealing with breast cancer.
"Selena has been real special to our program," said Embry. "Both of her daughters played for me for a long time and we're glad to have her coming out for us."
In addition to the money made at the gate and concession stand, donations will also be accepted at the event.
If all goes according to plan, Embry says he hopes the Lady Eagles can make the Pink Game an annual event.
"We want to raise as much money as we can," said Embry. "We really hope we can keep doing this every year because it's really something good.
"This is kind of a trial run for us and we want to make this bigger every year."
