Madison Central sports a potent rushing attack

Madison Central

The Madison Central Jaguars can be a hard opponent to tackle.
With a potent rushing attack, Madison Central is dangerous for any team that stands in its way.
In a 28-24 season-opening loss to Olive Branch, the Jaguars had three players combine for 285 yards rushing. Tailback Brandon Moore had 12 carries for 117 yards and a touchdown.
"Our tailback had never played before so I didn't know what he could do," Madison Central coach Bobby Hall said. "I just knew he could run real fast, but I had never seen him run with a football under his arm so he gave us what we needed."
Hall also likes what the Jaguars have in the backfield.
Along with Moore, quarterback Drew Rowell had 15 carries for 87 yards and fullback Hugh Warren added 14 carries for 81 yards against Olive Branch. Each scored a touchdown.
Even though disappointed with the loss to Olive Branch, Hall believes Madison Central has the kind of football team that can bounce back.
He knows that won't be easy against a Starkville team that also lost to Noxubee County 33-21 in week one. The two teams meet Friday at Yellowjacket Stadium with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.
"Obviously, we and Starkville both have a real sense of urgency going into this this game," Hall said. "We've got a very difficult non-region schedule and I like playing good teams. I think it makes the players better and the coaches better.
"We think we've got a chance to be a good football team. We're 0-1, but did get beat by a very good team and very talented team. We've got a lot of things to get better at."
