Monthly lunch held at library

Brenda Harden, chair of the Books and Authors program for the Friends of the Starkville Library, looks over “The Tender Mercy of Roses,” with the first author of the 2011-2012 season, Anna Michaels. The monthly lunch hour program is free to everyone. This season, the programs will be held on the second Thursday of the month, with the exception of November. Scheduled dates and speakers are: October 13, 2011 – Ellen Newsom, “Two Weeks at Meerkat Manor”; November 9, 2011 – Sid Salter, “Jack Cristil: The Voice of the Bulldogs”; January 12, 2012 – Suzanne Marrs, “What There Is To Say We Have Said:  The Correspondence of Eudora Welty and William Maxwell”; February 9, 2012 – Nancy Dorman-Hickson, “Diplomacy and Diamonds:  My Wars from the Ballroom to the Battlefield”; and March 8, 2012 – Dr. Michael Ballard, “The Civil War in Mississippi:  Major Campaigns and Battles.” (Submitted photo)
