Charles E. Burkhardt, 57, passed away on Sept. 9, 2011 at his residence in Starkville.
He was supervisor of Forest and Facilities Management at Mississippi State University.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Burkhardt.
He is survived by his wife Shelby Smith Burkhardt of Starkville; daughters, Mary Katherine Burkhardt McNeel (Coby) of Mantee, and Jamie Burkhardt of Starkville; father, E. C. Burkhardt of Vicksburg; brothers, Richard Burkhardt of Columbus, and Mike Burkhardt of Columbus, Ga.; and grandchildren, Burklee McNeel and Remi Coffman.
The College of Forest Resources is hosting a celebration of his life on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 4 p.m. at Dorman Lake Lodge located in the John W. Starr Memorial Forest near Starkville. Family and friends are invited.
A memorial fund has been established in the College of Forest Resources. The family requests memorials be sent to the Charles E. Burkhardt Memorial Fund (payable to the MSU Foundation) at the following address: Development Office, College of Forest Resources, Box 9680, Mississippi State, MS 39762
