Troy D. Criddle, Sr.

WEST POINT — Troy D. Criddle, Sr., 92, passed away, Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011 North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point.
Troy Dempsey Criddle, Sr. was born Jan. 27, 1919 in Chickasaw County to the late Dollie Staggs and Ell Criddle. Mr. Criddle was a retired Burner at B and W for 30 years and a member of West End Baptist Church. He was member of the V.F.W. and a Veteran of the U. S. Army having served during WWII.
Troy Dempsey Criddle, Sr. married Dola Francis Thompson on May 13, 1943 in Houston.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 24, at 1 p.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Mathena officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset of Angels Cemetery with military honors. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include wife, Dola Thompson Criddle; three daughters, Barbara Wilder, Linda Henderson (Victor) all of West Point, Patsy Slayton (Buster) of Starkville; two sons, Troy D. Criddle, Jr. (Jane) of Saltillo and Tommie Lee Criddle (Teresa) of West Point; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Armarie Ashby of Vardaman; one brother, Floyd Criddle (Dot) of Philadelphia.
Preceded him in death was his daughter, Katherine Criddle Morton Calvert on Feb. 7, 2003; great-granddaughter, Brittany Morton; six sisters; five brothers; and son-in-law, Ricky Wilder.
Pallbearers will be Chad Wilder, J. D. Morton, Gregg Morton, Jr., John Turner, Brian Turner and Troy Criddle, III.
Honorary pallbearers will be Skipper Wilder, Wesley Criddle, Jarriott Bennett, Gregory Bennett, Brother Mike Mathena, Dr. Andrew Wartak and nurse Amy Hawkins, the staff of North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point.
Memorials may be made to West End Baptist Church, P. O. Box 388, West Point, MS 39773.
Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home.
