The National American Miss Pageant was held in Jackson this past Labor Day weekend.
Starkville teen Kaehla Outlaw, daughter of city clerk Markeeta Outlaw and former assistant police chief John H. Outlaw Sr., was selected a state finalist and invited to compete in the state pageant.
Kaehla competed against girls from all over Mississippi. She was named one of ten finalists, earned third runner-up in the “Top Model” contest, earned first runner-up in the “Photogenic” contest, and was crowned the National American Miss 2011 Miss Mississippi Cover Girl, thereby earning an invitation to compete in the National All-American Miss Pageant in Hollywood, Ca. for the national title.
With the honor of being National American Miss 2011 Miss Mississippi Cover Girl,  Kaehla will have the opportunity to travel across the state of Mississippi for appearances and speaking engagements during her 2011-12 reign.
She will also have the honor of crowning her successor in next year’s National American Miss State Pageant.
Kaehla, a sophomore at Starkville High School, was inducted into the National Jr. Honor Society as a 7th grader. She has been a member of the Starkville High School Swim Team since 7th grade and is currently a member of the Varsity Cheer Squad. She attends 16th Section Missionary Baptist Church, where she is active in the Youth Choir and the Jr. Usher Board.  Kaehla is also an active member of the Starkville Mayor’s Youth Council.
