Doesn’t that sound like a great fall meal? Come to the Maben Farmers’ Market /Flea Market / Yard Sale on Fridays in October to stock up on a good supply for the coming holidays. William Shaw has scads of turnip greens, mustard greens, kale and collards to choose from in huge bundles for $5 a bunch. His sweet potatoes from Vardaman are $1 a pound, and they are beauties. He will even carry them to patrons’ vehicles.
The winner of this week’s $50 cash giveaway bought some of those tender turnip greens and highly recommends them. The winner this week is Alma Ford of Eupora. Her name was drawn by Kaylee Jo Berry, the daughter of Adam and Sarah Berry of Mathiston, with the help of Alma Herd, a Maben Market volunteer.
This week, in addition to the regular vendors, the Maben Farmers’ Market will be open to vendors of Flea Market and Yard Sale items for the rest of October. The market’s last day will be Oct. 29. All vendors are welcome if they sign up in advance and accept assignment to a 10x10 foot space on the market floor. Vendors must be set up and ready to sell by 7 a.m. and stay until the closing at 10 a.m. The Market is located next door to the Maben Post Office. There is no cost to vendors. Call (662) 263-8458 for an application.
