Missouri officially joins SEC

After weeks of speculation and rumors, Missouri officially joined the Southeastern conference on Sunday.
Just like Texas A&M, the Tigers will leave the Big 12 to join the SEC effective July 1, 2012.
"The presidents and chancellors of the Southeastern Conference are pleased to welcome the University of Missouri to the SEC," SEC board president Bernie Machen said in a statement. "The University of Missouri is a prestigious academic institution with a strong athletic tradition and a culture similar to our current institutions."
Missouri was unanimously voted in by the SEC president's and chancellors, becoming the 14th member of the conference.
With the TIgers joining the SEC, it was also announced that the Tigers will be a part of the Eastern Division. It's unclear how the divisions will break down with 14 teams.
The SEC is also having to change and adjust schedules for the 2012 season.
